Seed Bead Tutorials
When you use a lot of seed beads in your jewelry making, they are so small that they can become a real pain to deal with.
They go all over the place, and the holes in the beads are so small that it can take a long time to string seed beads by hand.
Fortunately, there's hope. Some really smart person invented a contraption that can automatically thread a whole lot of seed beads onto your string at one time without you doing anything.
Sound too good to be true? Then I recommend you try the so-called Bead Spinner.
All you have to do is dump as many seed beads as you have into the Bead Spinner bowl, spin the bowl slowly, put your string onto the provided needle, and lower it into the bowl of spinning seed beads. It works really well when you have about 1/3 of the bowl full of seed beads.
By the magical power of centrifugal force, the beads are pushed up onto your needle, and then you push them onto your string. I estimate this is 5~10 times faster than you could do it on your own.
It's very important not to spin the bowl too fast. If you do so the seed beads will fly all over the place when they hit the needle. It makes for a very difficult clean up!
There are several companies that offer Bead Spinners. I use the one from Beadalon but you can do an internet search and find other suppliers as well.
